NBC Universal, Blackstone, Bain buy Weather Channel

NEW YORK, July 6 (Reuters) - A group made up of NBC Universal (GE.N: Quote, Profile, Research) ,Blackstone Group (BX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Bain Capital on Sunday said they have agreed to buy Weather Channel from Landmark Communications in a deal whose financial terms they did not disclose.

The transaction includes the Weather Channel Networks cable network and the Weather Channel's website.

Privately held Landmark, which put the channel up for sale along with other businesses, originally sought $5 billion for the asset, sources have said.
