India's Sept car sales up 2.8 pct y/y -industry

NEW DELHI, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Car sales in India rose 2.8 percent in September to 108,823 from 105,822 a year earlier, snapping two months of falling annual sales, an industry body said on Monday.

Sales of trucks and buses fell to 42,698 units in September, down 0.9 percent from 43,091 in the year-earlier period, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said in a statement.

Motorcycle sales rose 15.2 percent to 632,369 in September from 548,816 an year ago, the data showed. (Reporting by C.J. Kuncheria; Editing by John Mair)
