PARIS, April 29 (Reuters) - French cheese and milk products group Bongrain (BONG.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) on Tuesday reported first-quarter sales of 899 million euros ($1.4 billion), up 11.7 percent on a like for like basis, but warned of a potential slowdown.

Bongrain said its cheeses cost consumers more due to higher milk prices, and this could lead to a decline in demand.

It reported sales growth in "other milk products", despite a strong euro, but a recent decline in world market prices could limit further rises.

Bongrain's brands include Coeur de Lion camembert, Saint Augur blue cheese, Etorki basque cheese and Chavroux goat's cheese. (Reporting by Marcel Michelson; Editing by David Hulmes)
