Dangote sugar 2008 net profit climbs 2 pct
LAGOS, June 4 (Reuters) - Nigeria's largest sugar refinery, Dangote Sugar's (DANG.LG: Quote, Profile, Research) full-year to December 31, 2008 net profit climbed 2.0 percent to 21.87 billion naira ($149.04 million), the Nigerian Stock Exchange said on Thursday.
The company's turnover rose marginally to 80.67 billion naira in the same period, from 80.65 billion naira in the previous year, the firm said in its latest financial report.
Its fixed assets declined to 13.75 billion naira from 14.03 billion naira, while its cash and bank balances also shrank to 19.85 billion naira from 19.98 billion naira.
The company's net assets climbed to 32.62 billion naira from 25.95 billion naira. Its share closed lower at 22.99 naira on Thursday from 24.20 naira the previous day. (Reporting by Oludare Mayowa; Editing by Randy Fabi and Rupert Winchester)
