PARIS, May 8 (Reuters) - As a telecoms industry outsider, the right-hand man of France's economy minister will have to fight to impose himself as the legitimate successor to France Telecom's (FTE.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) chief executive Didier Lombard.

Stephane Richard will need get on a steep learning curve and use his social skills and business nous to win over sceptical analysts and envious group executives who might try to make him trip over, industry and government insiders said.  Continued...
