ATLANTA, April 30 (Reuters) - Whirlpool Corp (WHR.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the world's biggest appliance company, said on Wednesday it sued Kenwood Ltd, a unit of Italy's De Longhi Group (DLG.MI: Quote, Profile, Research), for infringement of the shape of its KitchenAid stand mixer.

Whirlpool said its suit, filed in the High Court of Justice in London, is seeking an injunction to prevent Kenwood from continuing to sell its kMix mixer in the European Union.

Whirlpool makes KitchenAid, Maytag and Amana appliances.
