Malaysia Petronas Gas gas plant resumes operation

KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Reuters) - Malaysia's Petronas Gas Bhd (PGAS.KL: Quote, Profile, Research) said it has ended a temporary supply cut at one of its gas processing plants in Terengganu following an unplanned shutdown.

The state-owned gas supplier said Gas Processing Plant Complex A in Kertih, which suffered a power cut on Friday, had resumed operations.

"Petronas Gas ... would like to inform that the plant has resumed operation and our customers are no longer impacted," Petronas Gas said in a statement issued late on Saturday.

On Friday, Petronas Gas said the plant was partially shut down after a flash fire hit a local power distribution system.

The incident forced Petronas Gas customers, which include manufacturers and power generators such as Singapore's Senoko Power and Malaysia's YTL Power YTLP.KL, to turn to other energy sources such as coal or fuel oil as a back-up, a Petronas Gas official said on Friday.

Petronas Gas operates six Gas Processing Plants (GPP), four of which are in Kertih and an additional two in Paka, also in Terengganu.

These plants have a combined production capacity of 2,000 mmscfd in addition to producing by-products such as ethane, propane, butane and condensates.
