Motiva Port Arthur ups power production-state
HOUSTON, May 11 (Reuters) - Motiva Enterprises LLC boosted electricity production over the weekend from the in-house generation system at its 285,000-barrel-per-day Port Arthur, Texas, refinery to prevent a shutdown, according to a notice filed with state pollution regulators.
Electrical power provider Entergy warned the refinery it had to make repairs to an electrical substation "and informed Motiva power may be lost," according to the notice, filed with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Use of the in-house electrical generation system was to be scaled back once the repairs were completed, according to the notice.
Motiva is a 50-50 joint venture between Saudi Refining Inc and Shell Oil Co, the U.S. unit of Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSa.L: Quote, Profile, Research). (Reporting by Erwin Seba; editing by John Wallace)
