Danske CEO says Sampo integration costs up -Yle
HELSINKI, April 29 (Reuters) - Danske Bank (DANSKE.CO: Quote, Profile, Research) has to spend more money on integrating Sampo Bank into its computer system than it had previously thought, Danske Chief Executive told Finnish national broadcaster Yle on Tuesday.
"The complexity in Sampo systems was higher than we assessed so we therefore spent more money on migrating," CEO Peter Straarup told Yle. "How much that precisely is we know when we are done with it, but it could be a figure of up to 500 million Danish crowns ($104 million)."
Straarup also told Yle that Sampo Bank had lost more than 5,000 customers due to trouble with computer systems since Easter, when Sampo Bank was integrated into Danske's systems.
The amount spent on waiving customer fees to placate inconvenienced Finnish customers would be more than 10 million euros, Yle reported Straarup as saying.
Danske has said it would cancel private client service fees for June-September period as an apology for major IT problems. Danske bought Sampo Bank from insurer Sampo (SAMAS.HE: Quote, Profile, Research) early last year. (Reporting by Sakari Suoninen, editing by Will Waterman)
