Mexico stocks surge on U.S. bank sector hopes
MEXICO CITY, April 13 (Reuters) - Mexican stocks jumped to a three-month high on Monday on expectations that quarterly results of major U.S. banks will show some stabilization returning to the financial sector.
The IPC stock index .MXX rose as much as 5.12 percent to 21,582, its highest level since mid-January. Local stocks were also catching up with big gains made last week when domestic financial markets were closed for the Easter holiday. (Reporting by Michael O'Boyle; Editing by Leslie Adler)
