S&P may cut Berkshire's AAA rating on Burlington buy
NEW YORK, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Standard & Poor's on Wednesday said it may cut Berkshire Hathaway Inc's (BRKa.N: Quote, Profile, Research) (BRKb.N: Quote, Profile, Research) AAA rating, citing the company's plan to acquire Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNI.N: Quote, Profile, Research), Berkshire's largest acquisition to date.
A significant part of the cash portion of the acquisition will likely come from Berkshire's core insurance operations, reducing their liquidity and capital adequacy, S&P said in a statement.
