* Contract to cover design of station interior elements

June 12 (Reuters) - British engineering consultancy WS Atkins Plc (ATKW.L: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Friday it was set to receive the architectural component contract from Crossrail Ltd for all its stations and associated structures.

The contract will cover the design and specification of interior elements of the stations on the line under central London, such as wall and ceiling finishes, seating and lighting.

Once it is signed, Atkins said it plans to work with Crossrail and works teams to create a design toolkit to specify materials and components and ensure a consistent line-wide identity.

"Crossrail is set to be one of the most heavily used lines in the UK and getting the interior design right at the stations is crucial", Simon Layzell, Atkins's Crossrail programme delivery director, said in a statement.

Atkins shares closed 2 percent lower at 543 pence on Friday on the London Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Usman Merchant in Bangalore; Editing by Mike Miller)
