MADRID, April 8 (Reuters) - A French judge has frozen 1.8 billion euros ($2.84 billion) worth of shares held by Spanish firm Sacyr (SVO.MC: Quote, Profile, Research) in France's Eiffage (FOUG.PA: Quote, Profile, Research), Dow Jones news agency reported on Tuesday.

The shares were frozen last week as part of an investigation into alleged misleading information provided by the Spanish construction company, Dow Jones reported from Paris.

A spokesman for Sacyr had no comment on the report. In Paris, Eiffage also declined to comment.

Sacyr's board was due to meet on April 9 to consider what to do with its 33.3 percent stake in Eiffage after a French court ruled last week that it did not have to make a full takeover bid for the French company.
