EDP Q1 energy production rises across all units

LISBON, April 28 (Reuters) - Portuguese power company EDP (EDP.LS: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it had achieved sustained energy production growth across all business areas in the first quarter of 2008.

In its provisional results for the first quarter, EDP said wind power production increased 38 percent, while electricity production in Iberia's liberalised market Mibel rose 4.3 percent.

EDP, the world's fourth-largest wind-power company, will announce its first-quarter results on May 8 after the market closes. (Reporting by Henrique Almeida, editing by Will Waterman)
