Salzgitter June new orders not bad so far -CEO
FRANKFURT, June 11 (Reuters) - New orders in June for Germany's second largest steel maker Salzgitter (SZGG.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) have not been bad so far, its Chief Executive told a German weekly magazine.
The steel market is expected to recover by the fourth quarter this year, Wolfgang Leese told WirtschaftsWoche.
He said the second quarter had been "difficult" and the summer holidays in the third quarter would have a negative impact on production volumes.
If his expectations are fulfilled, the company's income would approach the breakeven level for this year, he added.
Salzgitter has forecast a breakeven at a pre-tax level this year if markets recover in the second half.
In June, Salzgitter raised prices for its flat steel from July 1 and plans a further increase from Sept. 1.
