Deutsche Post to stop evening mail flights -paper
FRANKFURT, June 13 (Reuters) - Deutsche Post (DPWGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) will stop the evening flights of its domestic aircraft network that transport letters throughout the country and hopes to save 40-60 million euros annually as a result, a German weekly said.
"The evening mail aircraft network will stop by July 1," a company spokesman told Euro am Sonntag.
The mail would instead be transported by road, he added.
The measure would save 40-60 million euros a year, the report said, citing company sources. The spokesman declined comment on the figure.
Deutsche Post has said it it would focus on cutting costs in its Mail and Express divisions and may reach its target of cutting costs by 1 billion euros sooner than planned.
