E.ON could be fined by EU Commission-magazine
FRANKFURT, June 27 (Reuters) - German utility E.ON (EONGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) could be fined by the European Commission for dividing up geographical natural gas markets with Gaz de France GAZ.PA, a German magazine reported on Saturday.
The EU Commission has accused E.ON of colluding with its French peer as part of the joint construction of a gas pipeline, Der Spiegel said in an excerpt of an article provided to Reuters before publication on Monday. It did not cite sources.
Commission representative have warned E.ON managers of a potential fine during talks in Brussels, the magazine also said.
E.ON was quoted by the magazine as saying it would appeal any fine and would eventually take the case to the European court of Justice.
Nobody at E.ON was immediately available for comment to Reuters. (Reporting by Ludwig Burger; editing by Sue Thomas)
