Bombardier, CAW reach tentative deal, avoid strike
TORONTO, June 23 (Reuters) - The Canadian Auto Workers and Bombardier (BBDb.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) have reached a last-minute contract deal that will avert a strike by about 2,750 workers at the company's de Havilland aircraft plant in Toronto, the union said on Tuesday.
The company and the union bargained through the night and beyond the 10 a.m. (1400 GMT) Tuesday union-imposed strike deadline, to reach a deal that the CAW said addresses issues related to retiree benefits and the use of temporary workers.
