TOKYO, Nov 5 (Reuters) - Japan Airlines Corp (9205.T: Quote, Profile, Research), which is seeking a state bailout, said it would hold a briefing on changes to its route and flight frequency plans on Thursday at 0700 GMT.

JAL said Manabu Sato, deputy general manager of corporate affairs, would attend the news conference.

The Nikkei business daily reported this week that JAL planned to eliminate a total of 16 unprofitable domestic and international routes by next June. The routes would include flights between Tokyo's Narita airport and Mexico, as well as between western Japan's Kansai airport and Hanoi, the paper said.

Shares of JAL were down 2.7 percent at 110 yen, while the benchmark Nikkei average .N225 dropped 1 percent.
