UPDATE 2-J2 Global Q3 profit beats Street, backs FY view

BANGALORE, Nov 4 (Reuters) - J2 Global Communications Inc (JCOM.O: Quote, Profile, Research) posted a better-than-expected quarterly profit, helped in part by cost cuts and growth in its voice business segment, and reaffirmed its full-year outlook.
On a conference call with analysts, the company said it continued to expect a modest increase in full-year revenue and adjusted earnings compared to 2008.
In 2008, the company earned $1.70 per share, excluding special items, on revenue of $241.5 million.
For 2009, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.84 per share, on revenue of $247.7 million.
The company, which provides outsourced, value-added messaging and communications services to individuals and businesses, said third-quarter net income was $19.3 million, or 43 cents a share, compared to $18.8 million, or 42 cents a share, a year ago.
Excluding certain items, the company earned 48 cents a share, beating analysts' average estimate of 45 cents, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. Continued...
