MOSCOW, July 29 The Russian government has declined a proposal by the Finance Ministry to increase a tax on gas extraction and gas export duty in a bid to protect gas giant Gazprom's (GAZP.MM) revenues, a government source told Reuters.
"A decision was taken not to do it. Yes, the money has already been included in the budget. Gazprom is promising to make up for it in other ways, in particular, through an increase of gas deliveries abroad," the source said on Wednesday. (Reporting by Darya Korsunskaya; writing by Gleb Bryanski)
