Briefs 4-Ajax sign striker Sulejmani from Heerenveen

July 4 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world.

Soccer - Ajax Amsterdam have signed striker Miralem Sulejmani from Dutch rivals Heerenveen for 16.25 million euros, the Amsterdam club said.

The 19-year-old Serbian international joined Heerenveen last season from Partizan Belgrade and scored 15 goals in 34 league appearances.

According to media reports, Sulejmani is set to sign a four-year deal in Amsterdam where he becomes coach Marco van Basten's second signing after Argentine striker Dario Cvitanich.

Soccer - Real Betis's German international winger David Odonkor will miss the start of next season after agreeing to undergo surgery to deal with pain in his right knee, the club radio said.

"If there is no problem in the rehabilitation he should be able to reappear after two months into next season," said club doctor Tomas Calero.

Soccer - Middlesbrough have signed France Under-21 midfielder Didier Digard from Paris St Germain for 5 million euros ($7.85 million), the Premier League club said on their Web site (www.mfc.premiumtv.co.uk)  Continued...
