LONDON, Feb 5 (Reuters) - Soccer news in brief from around the world:
* Middlesbrough said record signing Afonso Alves has been granted a visa and the Brazilian striker will arrive at the Premier League club on Wednesday.
The club broke their transfer record to sign Alves for around 12 million pounds ($23.70 million) from Dutch club Heerenveen less than an hour before the transfer window closed last Thursday.
* AC Milan and Inter Milan have been charged with false accounting by the Italian soccer federation despite a similar criminal case being dropped last week, the federation Web site (www.figc.it) said.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani and Inter director Rinaldo Ghelfi, acquitted in court last week, have also been called in front of the federation's disciplinary committee for allegedly inflating transfer fees to help balance sheets. They deny any wrongdoing.
* Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira has been given a two-game ban after being sent off for foul and abusive language towards the referee in Sunday's 1-0 win over Empoli, the Italian league said in a statement. Continued...
