Briefs 3-Palermo say Zaccardo sale to Wolfsburg not finalised
May 9 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world:
Soccer - Palermo chief executive Rino Foschi said they had not completed a deal to sell Italy defender Cristian Zaccardo to VfL Wolfsburg despite the Bundesliga club having announced the signing on their Web site (www.vflwolfsburg.de).
"I don't understand how the German club can have said it is official," he told reporters. "Obviously, they have reached an agreement with the player but still not with us. Even on the figures there is nothing certain."
Wolfsburg had said the 26-year-old, a member of the Italy squad that won the World Cup in Germany two years ago, would sign a contract running until 2011. German media had put the transfer fee at about eight million euros ($12.37 million).
Soccer - AS Roma's Brazilian goalkeeper Doni has extended his contract until 2012, the Serie A club said in a statement.
Soccer - Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is happy at the Premier League club and determined to win trophies despite newspaper reports suggesting he wanted to leave.
"I am very happy here. Reports which suggest I have threatened to quit are rubbish. I love the club and the fans," the Togo international told the club Web site (www.arsenal.com).
