Briefs 4-Arsenal midfielder Hleb charged with violent conduct

LONDON, April 22 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world:

Soccer-Arsenal midfielder Aleksandr Hleb was charged with violent conduct by the Football Association on Tuesday following an incident involving Reading captain Graeme Murty in a Premier League match the weekend.

The Belarus international appeared to strike Murty in the face during the second half of Arsenal's 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

The incident was not seen by referee Peter Walton at the time but the incident was reviewed on video. Hleb has until Wednesday to respond to the charge.

Rugby-Former France scrumhalf and captain Fabien Galthie announced on Tuesday he would quit as coach of 2007 French club champions Stade Francais at the end of the season.

"I don't know what I'm going to do but I can tell you I'm not going to coach for a while, I don't know for how long," Galthie, who took charge in 2004, told a press conference at the team's training ground.

Soccer-Sampdoria's home game with Juventus has been brought forward to Saturday, May 17 because Pope Benedict is visiting Genoa the day after, the Italian league said in a statement.  Continued...
