Briefs 3-Tennis-Baker recovering from life-threatening virus
LONDON, April 24 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world:
Tennis - British number two Jamie Baker is recovering from a potentially life-threatening virus, the Lawn Tennis Association said.
The world number 241, who played for Britain in the Davis Cup tie against Argentina in February, was diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) while training in Florida.
The virus attacks clotting agents in the blood, raising the risk of suffering internal bleeding or a lethal haemorrhage. The LTA gave no time span for the 21-year-old Scot's recovery but said he had virtually no chance of being fit for Wimbledon.
Soccer - Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio is unlikely to play again this season after suffering a groin injury in Tuesday's Champions League draw with Chelsea, manager Rafa Benitez said.
The Brazilian left back was carried off in the second half and replaced by John-Arne Riise, whose injury-time own goal handed Chelsea a 1-1 draw.
