 - Indonesia's largest telcommunications firm, PT
Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM.JK: Quote, Profile, Research), to hold a news
conference on its business transformation at 1800 (1100 GMT).
 - Astra group hosts news gathering for all eight of its
subsidiaries ranging from autos to palm oil.
 - Third day of Indonesian mining conference. Speakers
include Forestry Minister MS Kaban, Environment Minister Rahmat
Witoelar, PricewaterhouseCoopers mining analyst Sacha
Winzenried, President Director of Berau Coal Bob Kamandanu,
chairman of Forum for Forest Reclamation Mined Out Land.
 PRESS DIGEST
 - INDONESIA'S TELKOM ESTIMATES REVENUE UP 5 PCT THIS YEAR
 Indonesia's largest telcoms firm, PT Telekomunikasi
Indonesia Tbk (TLKM.JK: Quote, Profile, Research), estimated its revenue would grow 5
percent this year to around 63.7 trillion rupiah ($6.83
billion), finance director Sudiro Asno said. It also plans to
raise 2-3 trillion rupiah from bond issues next year in a bid
to finance its capital expenditure, which is forecast at $2
billion, Asno said. (Kontan, Bisnis Indonesia)
 - INDONESIA MAY SET LOCAL COAL NEEDS AT 78 MLN TONNES IN
2010
 The government may set the amount of coal miners need to
set aside for domestic use at 78 million tonnes next year,
compared with 68.5 million tonnes in 2009, director general of
mining and coal production Bambang Gatot Ariyono said. (Kontan)
 - FIVE PARTIES INK POLITICAL CONTRACT TO SUPPORT YUDHOYONO
 Five party leaders, including four Islamic parties and
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's Democrat Party signed a
political contract on Thursday, to pledge their support for his
government. (Kompas)
 - GOVT TO PROPOSE AMENDMENT OF TERRORISM LAW
 The chief political and security minister, Widodo AS, said
the government plans to proposed an amendment to the terrorism
law to increase intelligence functions of the military and the
police. (Kompas)
 - SRI LANKAN BOATPEOPLE ON HUNGER STRIKE
 About 260 Sri Lankan boatpeople whose boat were intercepted
by Indonesian Navy in Sunda Strait staged a hunger strike on
Thursday, calling for the international community to help find
them a better place to live and pleading that they are not
deported back to Sri Lanka. (Kompas)
 - THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES STILL HOMELESS IN PADANG
 About 90,000 families are still homeless in Padang, West
Sumatra, two weeks after a magnitude 7.6 quake hit the province
as the U.N. pledges to disburse $38 million to help victims,
the head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency said on
Thursday.
 - MID SIZE LENDER PERMATA EYES RIGHTS NEXT YEAR
 Mid size lender PT Bank Permata Tbk (BNLI.JK: Quote, Profile, Research) is
considering a rights issue or a sub-debt issuance next year to
help improve its capital, retail director Lauren Sulistiawati

 MARKET SNAPSHOTS
 * Indonesia .JKSE gained 0.15 percent, helped by gains in
coal miner Bumi Resources (BUMI.JK: Quote, Profile, Research), which rose 1.69 percent
and coal producer PT Adaro Energy.JK (ADRO.JK: Quote, Profile, Research), which climbed
1.4 percent.
 * Late-day strength drove U.S. stocks to 2009 highs on
Thursday as rising oil prices lifted energy shares, eclipsing
the banking sector's retreat after investors panned earnings
from Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. [.N]
 * Oil prices jumped more than 3 percent on Thursday to
settle at their highest level in a year after government data
showed a steep, unexpected drop in U.S. gasoline and distillate
inventories. [O/R]

 * Malaysian palm oil futures dropped as much as 2.4 percent
to a near one-week low on Thursday with traders taking profits
from a rally fuelled by crude oil and higher exports.[POI/]
 * In Indonesia, the state marketing centre based in Jakarta
did not sell any of 11,000 tonnes of palm oil offered in an
auction due to low bids. They sold 8,500 tonnes of palm oil at
a top price 6,587 rupiah per kg on Tuesday.[OILS/TEND]

The Indonesian rupiah and Malaysian ringgit led Asian
currencies higher against the beleaguered dollar on Thursday,
but the baht came under selling pressure amid concerns over the
Thai king's health. [EMRG/FRX] - Most Southeast Asian stock
markets advanced on Thursday with lenders DBS and United
Overseas Bank leading Singapore to a 13-month high, while
Thailand's index suffered its biggest drop in a year.[.SO]
