Rankin fires Hibs leveller in 1-1 draw at Dundee United
GLASGOW (Reuters) - John Rankin earned Hibernian a point in their 1-1 draw at Dundee United with his first goal for the club in Saturday's Scottish Premier League clash.
The midfielder fired a hopeful 20-metre shot just a minute into the second half which deceived Polish keeper Lukasz Zaluska who dived early with the ball bouncing over him into the net.
United, who are third in the standings with 39 points from 25 games, took a first half lead through Noel Hunt who cracked in a 12th-minute penalty despite Hibs' Belgian keeper Yves Kalambay managing to get a hand to the ball.
Leaders Rangers, on 53 points from 22 games, were at home to Falkirk later on Saturday while their arch-rivals Celtic, with 49 points from 22 matches, are at Aberdeen on Sunday.
