Amir Khan to face Kristjansen in WBO eliminator
LONDON (Reuters) - British Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan will face Martin Kristjansen on April 5 in his native Bolton in a title eliminator fight for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) lightweight belt.
Kahn, 21, undefeated in 16 professional bouts, was scheduled to meet Kristjansen on Feb. 2 but instead fought Australian Gairy St Clair after the Dane fell ill.
"It has put Amir in the frame to fight for the world title, hopefully this year," promoter Frank Warren told a news conference on Monday.
Mexican Juan Diaz added the WBO lightweight title to his World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation belts after a technical knockout against Brazil's Acelino Freitas last year.
