Spartak Varna coach Kirilov dies in car crash
SOFIA (Reuters) - Bulgarian club Spartak Varna's coach Anatoli Kirilov died in a car accident late on Wednesday, the Varna-based team said.
"We're all shocked and saddened by the news," the club said on Thursday. "It's a huge loss for our club."
Kirilov, 42, died in a road incident near the northern town of Svishtov.
The accident happened three days before relegation-threatened Spartak's crucial match against third-placed city rivals Cherno More.
The Varna derby will go ahead on Saturday with a minute's silence for Kirilov and both teams wearing black armbands.
Spartak have won just five league matches this season and are 14th in the 16-team top flight with 24 points from 27 games.
They are one point above the drop zone with three matches left, although the team finishing third from bottom faces a relegation playoff against a second divison team.
