MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky has been admitted to hospital with swine flu, Russia's head coach Vyacheslav Bykov said on Saturday.

Bykov said Tverdovsky became ill during the team's flight to Helsinki for the European Tour. Bykov said his condition was stable.

Tverdovsky, 33, who won two Stanley Cups during his 11-year career in the NHL, has been one of the leading candidates for the Russian Olympic team in Vancouver in February.
