D.Telekom reiterates plans expansion abroad-paper
FRANKFURT, May 11 (Reuters) - Deutsche Telekom (DTEGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) plans to expand abroad in new markets and in markets where it is already active, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper quoted its chief executive as saying.
The company plans to expand its existing business abroad and to take over competitors, boosting the share of Deutsche Telekom's business outside its home market further, Chief Executive Rene Obermann told the paper.
Obermann declined to comment on market speculation that the company was considering buying Sprint Nextel (S.N: Quote, Profile, Research).
A source close to the company told Reuters earlier this month that Deutsche Telekom had been looking at Sprint Nextel since the U.S. company announced a huge goodwill writeoff in February.
The person said then no decision had been taken on whether to bid.
