Samsung Elec handset sales, LCD margins fall
SEOUL (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS: Quote, Profile, Research), the world's second-biggest mobile phone maker, said on Friday it sold 45.7 million handsets in the second quarter against 46.3 million units sold in the first.
Profit margins for the telecom division dropped to 13 percent in the April-June quarter from 15 percent in the previous quarter.
Samsung, also the world's largest maker of liquid crystal display (LCD) screens, said profit margins in its LCD business fell to 21 percent in April-June, compared with 23 percent in the previous quarter.
