Nikkei rises as exporters gain, Toyota powers up
TOKYO, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average rose 0.9 percent on Friday as exporters gained after strong U.S. jobs data reinforced hopes the economy is recovering, with Toyota up after it posted a surprise quarterly profit and halved its annual loss forecast.
NEC Corp (6701.T: Quote, Profile, Research), Japan's largest PC maker, fell 0.4 percent after sources said it plans to raise up to 150 billion yen ($1.7 billion) in a share offering to shore up its capital and invest in growth businesses. [ID:nT151205]
The benchmark Nikkei .N225 gained 88.95 points to 9,806.39, while the broader Topix .TOPX rose 0.5 percent to 879.56. (Reporting by Elaine Lies)
