JAIPUR, India (Reuters) - A truck packed with pilgrims travelling to a Hindu shrine plunged off a mountainous road in Rajasthan on Friday, killing at least 70 people, police said.

Another 30 to 40 people were injured.

Thousand of devotees flock every year to the shrine at Ramdevra, near the tourist city of Jaisalmer.

Trucks with huge trawlers of up to 10 wheels often carry dozens of passengers in India.

Traffic accidents killing dozens of people are not uncommon across the country where roads and the state of many vehicles are often poor.
