India GDP growth in 2007/08 close to 9.1 pct - Chidambaram
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India's gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the fiscal year 2007/08 was close to 9.1 percent, the finance minister, Palaniappan Chidambaram, said during a parliamentary debate on Tuesday.
The government has targeted farm credit of 2.8 trillion rupees ($65 billion) for the fiscal year ending in March 2009, Chidambaram said. The lower house of parliament will vote on a confidence motion in the government later on Tuesday.
Debt waiver of 664.77 billion rupees has been granted to farmers so far, he said.
