India to host six-nation tournament in New Delhi

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India will stage a six-nation tournament next month to prepare the national team for the 2011 Asian Cup in Qatar, Doha.

Syria, Lebanon, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka and hosts India, who won the Nehru Cup when it was last held in 2007, will feature in the tournament to be played from Aug. 18 to 30, the national federation said in a statement.

India are former Asian Games champions but are ranked a lowly 147th in the world.
