FOREX-Dollar extends gains, pushes euro below $1.57

NEW YORK, July 3 (Reuters) - The dollar extended gains on Thursday, pushing the euro below $1.57, boosted by a U.S. jobs report that was not as bad as many had feared and by less hawkish comments from ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet.

The euro last traded at $1.5703 <EUR=>, down 1.1 percent on the day. It hit session lows of $1.5696, according to Reuters Dealing. (Reporting by Gertrude Chavez-Dreyfuss; Editing by Jonathan Oatis)
