Dollar hits session lows vs Aussie, sterling
NEW YORK, May 18 (Reuters) - The dollar extended losses on Monday, hitting session lows versus sterling and the Australian dollar, as gains on Wall Street accelerated.
A rise in equities tends to boost investor appetite for risk, hurting safe-haven demand for the dollar.
Sterling rose to a session high of $1.5337 and last traded up 1.1 percent at $1.5321 GBP=. The Australian dollar gained 2 percent to US$0.7630, after climbing to a session peak of US$0.7638, according to Reuters data. (Reporting by Wanfeng Zhou, Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
