US STOCKS-Dow jumps 1 percent, led by energy shares

NEW YORK, July 3 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose on Thursday, sending the Dow up more than 1 percent, as investors snapped up shares of energy companies, including Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N: Quote, Profile, Research), after oil prices CLc1 hit a record $145.85 a barrel.

Exxon, up more than 2 percent, was the top boost to the Dow and the S&P 500.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI jumped 110.89 points, or 0.99 percent, to 11,326.40. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX climbed 8.82 points, or 0.70 percent, to 1,270.34. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC gained 7.18 points, or 0.32 percent, to 2,258.64. (Reporting by Ellis Mnyandu; Editing by Kenneth Barry)
