The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 43.80 points, or 0.39 percent, to 11,275.76. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX climbed 2.85 points, or 0.23 percent, to 1,255.16. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC gained 14.34 points, or 0.64 percent, to 2,257.66.
