US STOCKS-Wall St jumps on oil drop, surging financials

NEW YORK, July 8 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose in another turbulent session on Tuesday as a pullback in oil prices eased worries about consumer and business spending, while financial shares gained after the chairman of the Federal Reserve said he may keep open a lifeline for financial firms.
The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 152.58 points, or 1.36 percent, to 11,384.54 and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX climbed 21.34 points, or 1.70 percent, at 1,273.65. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC gained 51.10 points, or 2.28 percent, at 2,294.42. (Editing by James Dalgleish)
