Carla Bruni to accompany Sarkozy on UK trip - mother
ROME (Reuters) - Carla Bruni will accompany French President Nicolas Sarkozy on an official visit to Britain in March, where the newly-weds will be guests of the queen, the former supermodel's mother told an Italian newspaper.
Sarkozy is due to visit Britain from March 26 to 28. He and the Italian-born singer married at a private ceremony in his Elysee Palace earlier this month after a high-profile romance.
"Within a few days...my daughter will go to England, on an official visit with her husband. And they will be guests of the queen," Marisa Bruni Tedeschi told La Stampa newspaper.
"Carla is very happy about this trip. It is her first state visit, who wouldn't be in her position?"
Tedeschi declined to comment on whether Bruni was pregnant, saying that was up to the couple to announce it if it was true.
Sarkozy and Bruni are very much in love, she said.
"The (wedding) ceremony was moving," she said. "And I believe it was also what Carla had been hoping for since she was a child."
