Quake shakes Greek south, no damage or injuries
ATHENS (Reuters) - An earthquake shook southern Greece on Wednesday but there were no reports of damage or injuries, Greek authorities said.
The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the quake, which occurred at 8:27 p.m. (1827 GMT), measured 6.1 on the Richter scale.
"It was a strong quake 200 km southwest of Athens in the sea south of the Peloponnese," an institute official said.
The quake was felt strongly in the city of Kalamata, causing panic and among residents, some of whom rushed into the streets, police said. No damage or injuries were reported.
A tremor measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale occurred in the same area on Feb. 14.
