Iran supreme leader urges support for Ahmadinejad
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged defeated presidential election candidates on Saturday to avoid provocations and to support the victor, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
"The chosen and respected president is the president of all the Iranian nation and everyone, including yesterday's competitors, must unanimously support and help him," he said in a statement read on state television.
"Both the supporters of the elected candidate and also the supporters of the other respected candidates should avoid any provocative ... behaviour or statements," he said.
