Play resumes at Italy Fed Cup tie
NAPLES, Italy (Reuters) - The Fed Cup world group first round tie between Italy and Spain was suspended for almost an hour on Saturday because of a leaking roof at the indoor PalaVesuvio arena.
Play resumed after the rain water was mopped up and workmen went on to the roof to try to solve the problem, a Fed Cup official said.
The first singles rubber between Francesca Schiavone and Nuria Llagostera Vives was locked at 6-7 6-3 1-2 when play was halted after a second small puddle appeared on court.
World number 23 Schiavone was troubled by moisture behind the baseline during the first set and then Llagostera Vives was put off by water dripping just inside the other baseline.
