Andy Murray falls at first hurdle in Rotterdam

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Reuters) - Andy Murray was brought down to earth after his weekend victory in Marseille when he was beaten by Dutch wildcard Robin Haase in the first round of the World Indoor Tournament on Wednesday.

The sixth-seeded Briton had two break points in the opening game of the match but was never able to take control against the world number 94, who won 7-5 6-3.

Murray's win in Marseille on Sunday was his second title of the year, but he also crashed out in the first round of the Australian Open in January to eventual runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

"Today I didn't play very well and was not so happy with my returns," the 20-year-old told reporters.

"The circumstances were so different today compared to last week. The court was very slow and also the balls.

"Therefore it became a different match with rallies of eight or nine shots, while last week they were four or five."

Nevertheless the world's number 10 did not seem too disappointed about his second defeat the year and he looked forward to the outdoor season.

"This is just one of those matches you can afford in tournaments like this. It will not affect your ranking like Master Series or Grand Slams" he added.  Continued...
