SYDNEY (Reuters) - Sophie Edington set a world record of 27.67 seconds for the women's 50 metres backstroke at the Australian Olympic trials on Sunday.
Edington, 23, sliced 0.28 off the previous record of 27.95 set by Australia's Emily Seebohm 24 hours earlier.
