SYDNEY (Reuters) - Libby Trickett set a world record of 23.97 seconds for the women's 50 metres freestyle at the Australian Olympic trials on Saturday.
Trickett (nee Lenton), 23, sliced 0.12 off the previous record of 24.09 set five days ago by Marlene Veldhuis of the Netherlands at the European championships in Eindhoven.
