Bartoli doubtful for French Open after wrist injury
PARIS (Reuters) - French number one Marion Bartoli has said she may miss the French Open starting on Sunday because of a wrist injury.
World number nine Bartoli retired from her second round match against China's Peng Shuai at the Strasbourg Open on Wednesday after hurting her right wrist while trailing 6-1 1-0.
"Now I am worried because I never felt any pain in my wrist," Bartoli, who reached the Wimbledon final last year, told French sports daily L'Equipe on Thursday.
"We absolutely need to find the cause of the pain less than a week before Roland-Garros. We suppose it is a tense nerve because I cannot bend my fingers anymore."
The draw for the tournament, which ends on June 8, will be made on Friday.
